Anna Andrews.
I am currently working within social care as a part-time care support worker. I work in a residential home called ‘Deanbrook’, which is one of eight homes run by Havencare. Deanbrook is situated on the edge of Dartmoor in a village, South Brent, and is a permanent home for adults with learning disabilities. I am also currently a full-time student at the College of St Mark and St John, where I am studying for my BA Hons Degree in ‘Drama and Community Practice’. My long term aim is to become a qualified ‘Drama-therapist’ and to continue working within the social care sector. Care Ambassadors allows me to share my positive experiences with young people embarking on the world of work and hopefully inspire individuals to consider working within the ever growing sector of social care.
Becky Cole
Becky Cole is a Community Care Support Worker in the domiciliary sector working for Agincare. Becky’s aim in life on leaving school was to earn money! What she didn’t achieve as a factory worker was job satisfaction and continual personal development. She does now since she started in Social Care supporting people of all ages, gender and diversity in their own homes. Her Dad’s sister in law recommended Agincare to Becky and since she started there 18 months ago she has started her NVQ 2 in Care and hasn’t looked back.
Becky says, ‘ I never thought I would enjoy my work so much. Although I work as part of a team I have control over how I deliver my work to the Service User. I am thrilled to be a Care Ambassador as it gives me a chance to develop my confidence and skills, as well as pass on valuable information about a great career!’
